Bumblebee

I'm not a fan of yellow. Neither black. Though, in design, when schemed together, they look absolutely perfect. Add a neutral colour and there it is...a bumblebee...perhaps not, but the combination really suits a house in need of a little happiness.

Warm and Inviting (with hints of brightness too)

As autumn draws, we see more of yellows and deep golds that uplift our moods. Though we expect warm and cosy colours, there are plenty of bright colours to keep our moods up. The misty and pastel colours of spring and the really fresh colours of summer are replaced by rich colours such as emerald green, vivid ruby red, deep blues and rich purples to add accents. Then, complement these rich colours with softer, paler colours to give the room a feeling of softness and space. There are still plenty of room for the traditional autumn colours such as orange, brown, red and yellow.

Touches of you

It is often said that your home reflects your personality, style and taste. Add touches of you by using accessories that you love and it doesn't matter if it doesn't match the colour scheme because it's your style.

Tips

I've recently started a "Tips" book where I write down interior design ideas and tips. It's good when you need to have some ideas.

Home Decor & Accessories

Small bits of accessories and home decor add quite a lot to your interior design. I love the treasures that can be used to stand on shelves and tables to give rooms that extra glamour. Accessories don't necessarily have to match the colour scheme and furniture, as they have their own colour and flavour that adds to the room. I love these examples:

Summer

Don't waste your summer time! As soon as February draws to a close, the weather starts to change and it will be too cold to have pool parties and perhaps, few barbecues. My family have had one barbecue so far, which is quite sad, but we done many other activities together as well. We've hired a boat to go fishing out at Brooklyn, where I got quite tanned. Anyway, as summer draws to a close, celebrate more with a few more parties! Throw blue accessories by the poolside, add the perfect barbecue dinner with your friends and sparkling water to create the perfect summer party!

Home Beautiful

Remember that post that I posted not long ago about Home Beautiful? Mum let me buy my own copy today with my own money. I've just finished reading it. It is such a good magazine!

Bright Colours

I absolutely adore bright colours that just give rooms that extra splash! I love incorporating citrus lemon and lime together to create a cool, refreshing and tropical look. Bright colours are so cute when schemed with a neutral colour, especially white. Isn't the "watermelon" colour scheme adorable? Pink and lime green! For just that extra dose of happiness, splash your room with a dose of bright colours!

Home Beautiful Magazine

I always love flipping through magazines on design. There are so many inspirations and tips for great design. Experience is not necessary, just the creativity and originality. I look at the homes by families who design the interiors of their own home and I think wow. Home Beautiful is a truly beautiful magazine to read. I recommend it to everyone who aspires to be a designer or who already is one!

Mum won't let me buy the magazines, so I have to borrow them from the local library, how sad!

Design...too boring? Or not?

Ever since mum told me I could re-decorate my room, I started of thinking of various ways to improve other rooms in our house. I've recently been droning on and on about the different ways to improve our house, but mum acts like she isn't listening. Is interior design too boring? I think not!

I thought that in the Entertainment Room, we could paint the wall, where the TV was located, a lovely, neutral shade of grey and leave the rest of the walls the same colour originally. Then, replace the current coffee table with a new one and buy a rug to put underneath the coffee table.

Later, I thought that in the front Living Room, we could buy a fireplace, however, the location and the design was a problem.

There were many more, but I don't want to bore you!

Cool and Tropical

Create a cool and tropical look with homewares in citrus lemon and lime.

Mixing and Matching

Sunny Yellow

Yellow is a bright colour. We all know that. Yellow lifts moods. Like the previous post about neutrals, yellow intensifies when used with a white backdrop. Here are some examples:

Neutrals

Neutrals really work well and intensifies when used with a white backdrop. That way, it really stands out and shows its colour.

Very stylish indeed.
